Please note - the date for the seminar has been changed!
ICT systems are large and complex, and they host vulnerabilities that can be exploited in cyber attacks. Defenders need to identify and secure all weak spots that can be exploited, while the attacker only needs to find one.

Robert Lagerström will discuss how data driven and holistic approaches can enhance cyber security in the very complex ICT systems for connected and automated vehicles.

It is in the complexity we miss even the simplest things. This is because we still struggle using manual expert driven approaches that are time consuming and expensive. Instead we need to use data driven, automatic, quantitative holistic approaches. In the seminar, Robert will present a proficient concept on how this can be done:
- Combine the data you can collect from vulnerability and network scanners as well as from firewall rules, cloud infrastructure set ups etc. in a combined way to map up your system.
- Use available threat modelling techniques to automatically pin point where the technical and structural vulnerabilities are.
- Use statistics to quantify where these vulnerabilities pose the biggest threat to the system.

Robert Lagerström is an associate prof. in software systems architecture and security at KTH. He did his post-doc at ABB Corporate Research and has been a visiting scholar at Harvard. Robert teaches IT management at KTH and does his research in cyber security, threat modeling, software application architecture, and enterprise IT architecture. Robert is one of the founders of the KTH spin-off company Foreseeti with their flagship product Securicad and a member of the Young Academy of Sweden.

The seminar is arranged by Integrated Transport Research Lab.

Breakfast will be served.

Please register by 15 February to secure your place.
