What Can COVID-19 Teach us About Transport?
At the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis, ITRL began to think about how we could create positive outcomes from the outbreak. Our researchers focus on transport, working with innovation and solution testbeds, and today’s situation provides a new perspective in replacing activity-travel engagement with virtual movements and activities, and in which circumstances this happens.
For this reason we have designed a questionnaire to explore the roles of digitalisation and technologies in sustaining people's lives and well-being, in particular in fulfilling their daily activities and needs, before and after the COVID-19 period.
If you could dedicate a few minutes of your time to fill in the survey, this would be of great help to our research. It takes approximately 10-15 minutes, and it is available in three different languages:
We will combine the results of the survey with data sets obtained from ITRL partners (e.g. traffic conditions both in terms of goods and people, internet traffic, online purchases...).
Our previous transport system was deemed unsustainable; is it more sustainable right now? And will the new habits we form be retained by society after the crisis? We hope that this approach will enable us to explore solutions to our key question: How can we design and scale-up a sustainable transport system?
