Last week Scania and ITRL welcomed participants from the conference THE Innovation and Impact Summit for a closer look at how strategic partnerships drive innovation and sustainable development.

After an introduction by Pär Jönsson (KTH), Anders Berglund (Scania), Ulf Ceder (Scania), and Jonas Mårtensson (ITRL), participants were guided through poster session, interactive demonstrations and presentations. As well as given the opportunity to engage in discussions with representatives and industrial doctorate students from Scania, ITRL and KTH.

Among the stations were the control towers where they could try out remote driving, hear more about ITRL projects in a poster session, a presentation from Department of Sustainable Production Development in Södertälje and visit their facilities digitally, and see an electric truck from Scania and hear more on their work on electrification.

THE Innovation and Impact Summit was initiated by the ranking institute Times Higher Education (THE) and invites university management, companies, financiers and experts within innovation and global development. The purpose is to exchange ideas and experiences about the abilities of higher education institutions to contribute to meeting the global societal challenges, as defined by the UN’s 17 development goals.

THE works with evaluating and assessing universities through its rankings with associated analyses and assessments. This includes the ranking of the impact of universities, their societal impact, based on the UN’s Global Goals for sustainable development.

KTH and THE arranged the conference, THE Innovation and Impact Summit, on 26–28 April 2022 at KTH in Stockholm.
