Time: Tue 2018-01-30 08.30 - 09.30

Lecturer: Emrah Karakaya

Location: ITRL, Drottning Kristinas Väg 40 Stockholm, Sweden 10044

How do innovations diffuse in societies and organizations? How do sustainability transitions happen?

Emrah Karakaya will shed some lights on these fundamental questions. This seminar aims at providing a brief overview of diffusion of innovations theory and technological innovation systems perspective as well as their applications in two empirical cases. The first case focuses on diffusion of solar photovoltaic systems in Germany while the second case explains a potential sustainability transition in iron and steel industry in Sweden.

Emrah Karakaya is an assistant professor at the department of Industrial Economics and Management (INDEK) at KTH Royal Institute of Technology. He holds a double PhD degree in Industrial Management (from Technical University of Madrid & KTH Royal Institute of Technology) and a double MSc degree in Computational Mechanics (from UPC BarcelonaTech & University of Stuttgart). His research expertise includes several topics such as sustainable business models, industrial dynamics and diffusion of innovations. In research, Emrah uses both qualitative and quantitative methods, such as case study approach, systematic literature review and mathematical modelling.

The seminar is arranged by Integrated Transport Research Lab.

Breakfast will be served.
